Facilities needs in UNC system

For forty years and more,  community colleges have focused on top-quality training for good jobs with prosperous futures. Year after year, experts rank North Carolina number one in workforce training.  Yet as we enter the twenty-first century,  rapidly growing enrollments are putting tremendous strain on community college facilities. Training and education for the economy of the future demand up-to-date laboratories, adequate classroom space and facilities near where students live and work.  The North Carolina Community College System includes 59 institutions enrolling between 750-thousand and 800-thousand North Carolinians every year. North Carolina Community Colleges are the first stop, the intermediate step, and the best chance for adults of every age in every county. This site is intended to help you appreciate the enormous importance of North Carolina's Community Colleges to our state's economy and to understand the capacity challenges facing our campuses.  The bond package includes $600 million for community colleges and $2.5 billion for the University.    Click here for a major speech by President H. Martin Lancaster on the bonds.   Contact us if you want to know more.
