Called budget-cutting meeting for State Board of Community Colleges

RALEIGH: The State Board of Community Colleges will conduct a special called meeting on Thursday, October 3rd at 11:00 AM in the Caswell Building. Several members will participate in the meeting via telephone. The meeting will originate in the State Board Room.

The purpose of the meeting is to make decisions regarding the $5 million in permanent cuts for community colleges included in the budget passed by the General Assembly and signed by Governor Easley.

This negative reserve means that the Board must identify these permanent cuts before funds are finally allocated to the colleges. State Board Chair James Woody called the special meeting because colleges are anxious to get their budget allocations as soon as possible, rather than wait until the regular meeting on October 18.
