Statement from H. Martin Lancaster
North Carolina Community College System President

Response to Governor Easley's Budget

"I am pleased that the Governor has included community college priorities in his budget; especially enrollment growth, faculty and professional staff salary increases, equipment funding, and financial aid," said Lancaster.

"The Governor's emphasis on community college and university cooperation in teacher preparation is good news for students across the state and for adults who want to become teachers."

Lancaster emphasized the importance of community colleges in the Governor's plan to restructure of high schools. "The North Carolina Community College System looks forward to playing an integral role in one of the Governor's priority initiatives, Learn and Earn, which will provide new education opportunities to high school students."
