Public Hearings Scheduled On Cooperative Education

 

RALEIGH – The North Carolina Community College System is holding two public hearings on its Cooperative High School Education programs.  The Huskins/Concurrent Programs allow qualified students to take college level courses at a community college while still enrolled in high school.  The programs are designed to motivate high school students and enhance their possibility for achievement.

 

In order to improve the success and accountability of these programs the NCCCS is seeking public input and comment.  Interested persons may present oral or written statements relevant to these programs at either of the hearing sites below:

 

December 14, 1999         Western Piedmont Community College
11:00 a.m. – 1 p.m            Carr Hall,Room112  
                                       1001 Burkemont Avenue 
                                        Morganton, North Carolina 28655
 

 

December 15, 1999         Robeson Community College System  
11:00 a.m.–1 p.m.             Building 11, Room 1103
                                       Highway 301 North
                                       Lumberton, North Carolina 28359

 

Written statement may be submitted until December 15, 1999 to:

Comments are requested in several areas including barriers or issues to high school students enrolling and or/being successful in Cooperative High School Programs, solutions to those identified barriers and/or issues, the methods to achieve success and the measures to gauge it.

 

Persons planning to make statements at either public hearing are requested to bring a written copy of their statement to the hearing.
