ROBESON COMMUNITY COLLEGE PRESIDENT APPROVED
RALEIGH: The New Year will bring new leadership for Robeson Community College in Lumberton. The State Board of Community Colleges approved Dr. Charles Victor Chrestman as the new Robeson CC President. His appointment begins January 1, 2003.
Chrestman is presently the Vice President for Instruction at Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Mississippi. He is the chief academic officer for all of the college’s credit and non-credit programs and services. Prior to that he served as the Dean for Career Education and Community Services and the District Director for Vocational, Technical and Adult Education and Director for the Tupelo Campus, both at Itawamba Community College.
Chrestman has a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS. He received his bachelor and master’s degrees in Mathematics Education from Delta State University in Cleveland, MS.
Chrestman follows former president Fred Williams, who is now the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the North Carolina Community College System. Mr. Williams joined the System Office on October 1. Since Williams’ departure, Dr. Vincent Revels has served as Interim President at Robeson.
The State Board also approved Ms. Trish Shoemaker to serve as Interim President of Davidson County Community College, effective January 1, 2003. Shoemaker will replace the retiring Dr. J. Bryan Brooks, who has been president since 1982.
