Purpose
of the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Educational Act of 2006 (Public
Law 109-270) is to develop more fully the academic, vocational, and technical
skills of secondary and postsecondary students who elect to enroll in vocational
and technical education programs.
North Carolina's allocation
from the Federal Government flows through the Department of Public
Instruction. Funds are distributed 2/3 for secondary education and 1/3 to
North Carolina Community College System. Title1 (Vocational and Technical
Education Assistance to the States) funds consist of Basic Grants and State
Leadership Funds. These funds are administered by the Federal Vocational
Education unit.
