Nontraditional Programs

When a program of study or curriculum has fewer than 25 percent enrollment by one gender, it is considered "nontraditional" for that gender.  Examples would be males in nursing and females in auto mechanics.

Using information provided in the  Classification of Instructional Programs: 2000 Edition published by the National Center for Education Statistics in the U.S. Department of Education, the Federal Vocational Education unit has prepared a list of Underrepresented Programs.  To view this, nine page document in .pdf, click here

Pages 1-5 list curricula in which females are underrepresented while pages 6-9 list curricula in which males are underrepresented.
