Information Regarding Bonds of North Carolina Licensed Proprietary Schools

Licensed proprietary schools operating in North Carolina are required by statue to be bonded in the event that the school for any reason cannot deliver on its obligations to students. With the closure of Solid Computer Decisions (SCD) and their notice of intention to file Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, SCD has failed on its obligation to deliver services as promised, therefore students have a right to request a refund from the bonding company. Students should follow directions contained in the bond agreement. The North Carolina Community College System cannot give legal advice regarding execution of the bond. Questions regarding the bonds should be directed to the bonding companies and/or the student’s attorney. The following table indicates where SCD was licensed and bonded in NC, the amount of the bond, policy numbers, the name of the bonding company, and the local agency:
