RALEIGH – The Presidential Search Committee of the State Board of Community Colleges opened the application and nomination process for the next System President on Friday, November 20, immediately following a meeting at which they approved the candidate profile and search timeline.
“Our committee reviewed the results of the nearly 2,300 North Carolinians who participated in the presidential profile survey we opened in early November,” said Search Committee Chair Jerry Vaughan. “We are grateful for the involvement of so many of our internal and external stakeholders, and we have incorporated some of that feedback into the final president profile. We are reaching out to these same groups to help publicize the opening of the application period.”
Applications and nominations will be accepted by Hockaday-Hartford Consulting, LLC, the national higher education consulting firm retained by the State Board to assist with the search process, through 5 p.m. EST, Friday, January 15, 2016. Contact information is included in the presidential profile and on the NC Community College System website.
During Friday’s meeting, the Committee also approved a search timeline presented by the consulting firm. That timeline has candidate interviews scheduled for February and March 2016, with the full Board tentatively scheduled to approve the next System President on March 31, 2016.
“It’s an ambitious timeline for our committee, our Board and potential applicants, given the approaching holidays,” said Vaughan, “but we see this as the most important job we as Board members have. We’re pleased with where we are to date and look forward to each step of the process.”
The Presidential Search Committee has scheduled its next meeting for Thursday, Dec. 3 at 11 a.m. prior to the start of the full State Board’s regular meeting at noon.
The meeting is open to the public. Those interested in hearing the committee proceedings must be present at the NC Community College System Office, 200 W. Jones Street in Raleigh, at the appointed meeting time.
