T
he BioAg Center will coordinate and develop the specialized agricultural education and training activities at community colleges statewide, so that North Carolina can have a well-trained biotechnology workforce.
The BioAg Center is one of six BioNetwork centers across North Carolina. Each of the BioNetwork Centers has an area of specialization. They will be responsible for developing expertise and curricula that remain abreast of the cutting-edge technologies used in this industry and then making it available to community colleges statewide. They will also conduct faculty train-the-trainer courses. By sharing resources, BioNetwork can be efficiently responsive to industry’s workforce training needs.
Startup funding for NCCCS BioNetwork was provided by Golden LEAF. BioNetwork is seeking continuing funding from the NC Legislature for this important initiative. More information about the initiative can be found at the BioNetwork website - www.ncbionetwork.org
