CONFERENCE CALL MEETING TO BE HELD BY STATE BOARD OF COMMUNITY COLLEGES FINANCE COMMITTEE
RALEIGH: Business continues for the State Board of Community Colleges even though the full Board will not meet in December.
The Finance and Capital Needs Committee of the State Board will conduct a called Committee meeting on Wednesday, December 18 at 3:30 p.m. via conference call. The Committee is meeting to approve the selection and funding of the "Joint State Board Education Oversight Consultant" which was mandated in legislation approved by the General Assembly earlier this year.
The special provision in Senate Bill 1115 calls for a comprehensive study of the state’s funding policies and models related to administration of the community colleges. The study is a cooperative project of the Joint Legislative Education Oversight Committee and the North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges.
The contract must be signed by the selected consultant prior to the State Board meeting on January 17, 2003. Finance and Capital Needs Chair Herbert Watkins requested that the State Board give the Committee authority to proceed with the approval process since the Board is not scheduled to meet in December. He also asked that the Board allocate sufficient funds to cover contractor costs.
