State Board of Community Colleges meets over the phone in June
Raleigh:
Only one very important item is on the agenda for the State Board of Community Colleges this month. The Board meets via telephone at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, June 21 to approve a new president for Craven Community College in New Bern, the third in its 35-year history.The new president replaces Dr. Lewis S. Redd, who retires at the end of June after having served as Craven CC President since May 10, 1990.
Dr. Redd began his career in New Bern with the New Bern City Board of Education as an Industrial Arts Teacher at New Bern High School. He remained there from 1963 until 1966 when he accepted a position as Extension Director with Craven Community College. Dr. Redd served as Dean of Occupational Education from 1967 until 1970, Dean of Continuing Education from 1970 until 1980, and Dean of the College from 1980 until 1990, when he was selected as President of the College.
