RALEIGH : The North Carolina Community College System Office is playing Santa Claus for five families in Wake County this year.
The NCCCS adopted five families identified as part of the Wake County Human Services’ Holiday Cheer program. Each department of the System Office purchased Christmas gifts for their respective family.
On Tuesday, Janice Cruse of Wake County will join the System Office for a Holiday Luncheon at Peace College and will then return to the Caswell Building to receive the gifts. There are five huge boxes, literally overflowing with presents for the five families. They will be loaded onto a van for delivery.
This is the fourth year the NCCCS has purchased gifts for families in need as part of its "Share and Care" program. The NCCCS has sponsored a holiday giving project since the early 80’s.
"It’s the least we can do to help those who might not otherwise have a great Christmas to know the joy of the season," said System President H. Martin Lancaster. "I’m so proud of my staff. They always go overboard to help others and this brings them so much pleasure."
