Community College System Office to host Peruvian Educational Executives
RALEIGH: Colleges within the North Carolina Community College System have developed cooperative arrangements with educational institutions in several foreign countries. Pitt Community College in Greenville, for example, is working very closely with the Universidad San Pablo in Peru.
The goal of the relationship with Pitt CC is to enhance Distance Education in general for Universidad San Pablo. Pitt CC presently provides instruction for 25 teachers on Blackboard, a format utilized by the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) for Internet course design.
Three educational officials from Peru will visit the NCCCS on Wednesday, October 31, from 10:00 until noon. This System tour comes after a two-day visit in Greenville at Pitt CC on Monday and Tuesday.
The group is traveling to Raleigh to learn more about the System’s Virtual Learning Community and the Community College System in general.
The education officials visiting are all from the Universidad San Pablo. They are: Alonso Quintanilla Perez-Wicht, Secretary General; Jose Ambrozic Velemore, President de la Entidad Promotora; and Germán Chávez Contreras, the Academic Director and Language Center Director.
