STATE BOARD OF COMMUNITY COLLEGES HOLDS NOVEMBER MEETING
Three community college presidents to be considered
RALEIGH – The State Board of Community Colleges holds its November meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, November 19 in the State Board Room of the Caswell Building in Raleigh.
The standing committees of the State Board meet on Thursday afternoon, also in the Caswell Building.
The State Board has a full agenda to cover before leaving for the Day of Recognition luncheon later that day.
A special resolution honoring Lt. Governor Dennis Wicker, past State Board Chair, will be presented.
Two new community college presidents, one for McDowell Technical Community College in Marion and the other for Nash Community College in Nashville, are on the agenda for consideration. An interim president for Southeastern Community College in Whiteville is also on the agenda. Approval is expected for all three appointments.
There will also be a report from the North Carolina Association of Community College Presidents. Dr. Phail Wynn, Durham Technical Community College President will make that presentation. Mr. J. Edgar Moore of Nash Community College will present a report from the North Carolina Association of Community College Trustees.
After the meeting, the State Board joins the North Carolina Community College System in hosting the Day of Recognition at the Sheraton Imperial at 12:00 noon. At the luncheon event, Dr. Prezell R. Robinson and Dr. Edgar J. Boone will receive the I.E. Ready Award, the highest honor bestowed by the State Board.
Other awards presented at the luncheon include the Excellence in Teaching Award and the President’s Leadership Award. Community college retirees for the past year are also honored.
