WAKE TECHNICAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE STUDENTS DEMONSTRATE SKILLS FOR LAWMAKERS
RALEIGH: Students from six Health Science programs at Wake Tech will visit the North Carolina General Assembly Tuesday, June 20. The programs to be featured are Dental Assisting, Emergency Medical Science (EMS), Human Services Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), Nursing and Radiography. The students will set up displays containing information about each profession, highlighting some of the more sophisticated and technical aspects of each, and will hand out free testing kits donated by Helena Laboratories.
At 2 p.m., Emergency Medical (EMS) students will demonstrate their skills in cardiac life support and other emergency procedures. Community College System President H. Martin Lancaster and Wake Technical Community College President Bruce Howell will be there at that time.
The N.C. Community College Faculty Association is sponsoring the event as part of a series of community college student visits to the state legislature. In May, welding students from Bladen Community College demonstrated their skills for legislators.
