Celebrating 40 years of "College That Works" for North Carolina
PUBLIC HEARINGS ON COMMUNITY COLLEGES TO
BE HELD
February 17 hearings rescheduled
RALEIGH: The public is invited to participate in the
last three of a series of regional public hearings on the organization of the
North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS).
A consultant hired by the Education Oversight Committee of the General Assembly and the State Board of Community Colleges has hosted a series of focus groups/public hearings giving individuals the opportunity to share their opinion of their community college system.
Two hearings scheduled for Monday, February 17 at Central Piedmont Community College and Caldwell Community College were postponed because of inclement weather. They have been rescheduled for March 3rd.
The hearings are a part of a study mandated in Senate Bill 1115, which calls for a review of the structure, administrative formula, and multi-campus and center funding in the NCCCS. The lawmakers want to determine if any type of consolidation of community colleges would save funds. The hearings will provide an opportunity for input from key stakeholders to determine issues of concern.
Interested individuals are encouraged to attend the closest regional hearing to share thoughts on their community college. If unable to attend, written comments are welcome. Send comments to:
