State Board task force to hold final meeting on Auditor’s recommendations
RALEIGH – The committee appointed to craft a response to recommendations from State Auditor Les Merritt meets for the last time on Friday, March 24. The meeting begins at 1:00 in the State Board Room of the Caswell Building.
Last year, Auditor Les Merritt made recommendations regarding the operations of the State Board of Community Colleges:http://www.ncauditor.net/EPSWeb/Reports/PressReleases/PRS-2005-010.pdf . State Board Chair Hilda Pinnix-Ragland appointed a Task Force to consider and respond to those recommendations.
The group has held several meetings, including one with Auditor Merritt. The panel is expected to complete deliberations during this session and prepare a report for the April State Board meeting.
Task Force members:
State Board of Community Colleges: Joanne Steiner (Task Force Chair), The Honorable Jimmie Ford, and Dr. Linwood Powell
NC Association of Community College Presidents: Dr. Larry Norris (Fayetteville Technical Community College) and Dr. Ed Wilson (Wayne Community College)
NC Association of Community College Trustees: George Little (Sandhills Community College) and Talmage Penland (Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College)
NC Community College System Office Staff: Kennon Briggs, Vice President for Business and Finance, Richard Sullins, Executive Director of the State Board and Executive Assistant to the President, and David Sullivan, Assistant to the President for Legal Affairs.
