National reports on education to be presented at Joint Education Governing Boards meeting
State Board of Community Colleges to host gathering
RALEIGH - Advancing the “Seamless System of Education” is the focus of this year’s meeting of the governing boards of all education systems in North Carolina. To that end, two important reports on education will be presented to the group. One focuses on higher education and the other on K-12 education issues.
The presentations begin at 1:00 at SAS Institute in Cary on Thursday, February 15.
The first report, presented by Rick Stephens, Boeing VP of Human Resources and Administration, and a member of the Spellings Commission, focuses on the findings of that Commission chaired by U.S. Education Secretary Margaret Spellings.
The second report, gives full attention to issues affecting the future of education in the K-12 environment. Marc Tucker, President of the National Center on Education and the Economy, will share his message with the audience.
