3. Why did my course lose its AB status?
The course had AB status before I ran XUIC, but now it has X status, what happened?
What is locally-assigned AB status -vs- System Office-assigned AB status?
Common Scenario:
Before you ran XUIC, the curriculum course's status is AB; After you
ran XUIC, the course's status is X.
To understand why this common scenario happens, how to fix it when it happens, and how to stop it all together, you must first be aware of these facts:
The System Office (SO) server CONTROLS the assignment of the status to each curriculum course in your Colleague local library and the SO server maintains a record of each status which it assigns
During your college's conversion to Colleague, curriculum course were assigned AB status locally; not by the SO server
All curriculum courses with locally-assigned AB status are in jeopardy of having the status changed to X status by the SO server
Only courses with locally-assigned AB status are subject to having its AB status replaced with X status.
The reason why your course's AB status randomly changed to X status is because:
System Office staff edited the course information causing the SO server to automatically send the course to all 58 colleges and to automatically reassign the last-assigned status on record at the SO, and
The SO server sent X status for the course to your college, because the SO server's records indicated that the last-assigned status was X status; which unfortunately caused
Your course's locally-assigned AB status to be replaced by the the SO-assigned X status.
The fix
The quick fix when this happens: As college staff discovers a course that has lost its AB status, the college staff should request AB status for that specific course version.
