When I transferred to Durham Tech from another university, I came with a low GPA and no plans to get involved around campus. I intended to keep my head down, do my work, and transfer to a four-year university as soon as I could. I am so glad that during my first week here I learned about and joined Durham Tech's literary club, The Final Draft. Since then, I have joined several other clubs and organizations on campus, among them the Student Senate, Phi Theta Kappa, and Gamma Beta Phi. I would not be where I am today if I had stuck with my original, bone-headed plan.

I was incredibly unhappy at the university I first attended. Since moving to Durham and becoming a part of the community at Durham Tech, I have felt like myself again. The work here is difficult, and the clubs often leave me with very little free time, but I love it. I love the challenge, and I love the people here at Durham Tech. I rediscovered my passion for writing, learning and anthropology again due to the inspiring instructors and students that I've met.
