Amy Morrison

After working at a financial institution for over 11 years, I realized that it was time for a change in my life. My position as an Assistant Manager required more education to advance, and I had just found out I was pregnant with my third child. I took this opportunity to make two of the biggest and best decisions of my life: move to Charlotte, so I could be closer to family and to return to college. I wanted to start at a community college, because I liked the smaller atmosphere, and selected SPCC because I had heard wonderful things about the education they offered.

With the help of financial aid and scholarships, I have been able to complete three full semesters and am slated to graduate in May of 2014. Learning in this close knit community has given me a sense of satisfaction and enabled me to believe that I can achieve my academic dreams. This experience has given me the confidence in my own knowledge and talents to continue on to UNCC in the fall in pursuit of my Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry. My story is proof of the school motto; from here I really can go anywhere.
