Kumar Chandrashekaran

I am one of those old generations moving forward to achieve my goals and a new career through the NC Community College System.

I moved to New Orleans, LA from India to start a new life. However, Hurricane Katrina dislocated me to Raleigh. This experience and enrolling at Wake Tech have changed my life as I pursue a degree in business/IT. Getting involved as President of WTCC Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), I share my knowledge and mentor the younger students. I attend events to recruit students into business programs and PBL. As PBL president, Sigma Delta Pi member and student, I have learned to give back by volunteering and partaking in events like the "March of Dimes" and assisting at the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.

As George Bernard Shaw said, "Progress is impossible without change and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything." I want to change and be the change I wish to see. Wake Tech has changed my life, my career goals and is helping me to effect the change in others. "Excelsior" is my motto, which I learned from my high school. I will rise ever upward with Wake Tech along with those who want the change.
