When I made the decision to return to school I was filled with excitement and trepidation. I had no clue where I was going or where it would lead me but with the support, guidance, and encouragement of my family, friends, co-workers, advisors and instructors I have been able to keep going even when it has felt like I would never get there.

During my time at McDowell Technical Community College I have learned new skills that I use every day in a new career doing what I love; I've gained confidence in myself and have taken steps that I never would have attempted before. I have been given opportunities to gain real world experience. I have completed fun and interesting projects that helped to deepen my understanding of the subject content. For one such project I wrote a business plan and now I have the chance through another project to write one for a local businessman as well as present it to the SBA.

In both of my majors, Business Administration and Accounting, I have learned skills that helped me to get the job I've wanted for a long time; I believed it would be years before I got the opportunity to work in Finance and in less than two years I am there. These two programs just go hand in hand; the complementary content and my advisors have contributed to my success in both programs.

I have grown professionally as well as personally and have achieved more than I ever thought possible. The people, experiences, challenges, and even the sacrifices I've made in the last two years are part of who I am and have contributed to my success. Today, I know exactly where I want to go, what it takes to get there, and am well on my way to achieving all of my goals.
