Seth Bell

Seth Bell Seth Bell wasn't planning on becoming a toolmaker. He wanted to build houses. However, after a winter with little work and meeting his future wife, he realized he could not support a family that way.

Bell enrolled in the machining technology program at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College, earning his diploma and following with an associate's degree in Tool, Die and Mold Making. He then finished 8,000 hours of apprenticeship at his company and became a certified tool and mold maker. "There is a lot of satisfaction in my work," he said.

One of his most proud achievements is creating the mold used for manufacturing the gearshift knob for the Chrysler 300, Motor Trend magazine's 2005 Car of the Year. He made three different molds for the different package options for the car.

Bell knows A-B Tech helped him get there. "I hated math all through high school. I didn't see any practical application for it," he said. Once he started working, he knew he needed it. "Math is now my favorite. You can't do anything without it. I recommend A-B Tech highly, especially if you don't know what you want to do."
