Samantha Benson
Samantha Benson, a native of Bladen County, had no idea what she wanted to do with her life when she graduated from Bladenboro High School in 1992. However, she was interested in computer-related subjects and thought she might like to work in a skill that allowed her to pursue that interest.
A college counselor urged her enroll in the Administrative Office Technology program at Bladen Community College. She enrolled that fall and married during her first quarter in college. During part of her time at BCC she was a work study student in the Department of Instruction.
Less than a year after graduating with honors from BCC, she was hired as the personnel secretary at the college. Three years later she transferred to the Financial Aid office as administrative assistant.
She continued her education by taking college transfer courses at BCC and enrolled in the Management and Organizational Development program at Mount Olive College in May 2004. She completed her bachelor's degree in December 2005.
Samantha was hired as a counselor in the BCC Financial Aid office in December 2006 and plans to enroll in a master's degree program in the fall of 2009.
