Jeana El Sadder
Jeana El Sadder remembers working fifth grade math problems as her Jordanian-born father struggled to comprehend his assignments in English. He was a student at Rockingham Community College and Jeana often accompanied him when he went to the campus.
Now an RCC student herself, she says, "I love community colleges and RCC in particular. It gave my father a chance to succeed. Today, he is a linguist for the U.S. Army in Iraq."
El Sadder is succeeding as well and taking advantage of the opportunities outside of the classroom. She is vice president of Rockingham's student government association and president of N4CSGA, the state community college system's student government association. As such, she is a non-voting member of the state community college board of trustees. Though she cannot vote her opinions are sought.
"It is an honor to serve," she said. "I truly appreciate the opportunities open to a person through North Carolina's community college system."
