Felicia Campbell
Felicia came to the GED program in March, 2008, a nervous and anxious student. She had dropped out of high school about 15 years ago and now, three children later, has decided to continue her education. Her children require daycare and lots of love and attention, so time management is always an issue. She is also devoted to her siblings, who often require additional time and attention. Felicia had set an initial goal of attending at least three times a week and, after receiving her GED, she would get her CNA at Brunswick CC.
Her goals are being realized. She has attended at least three to four times a week for six hours each day. Since her academic skills were weak from being out of school all those years, she needed remediation in most areas. She never gives up and uses all available resources to improve. She has a newfound confidence and feels now that she can accomplish anything.
When you see her GED test scores, it is evident that hard work and renewed self-esteem has helped her achieve her goals. She has shown improvement with each test that she has taken, passing three out of five tests with improving scores. She is looking forward to graduating and eventually becoming a Certified Nurse Assistant.
