Louann Bullard
LouAnn Bullard, a native of Kentucky, says she took the long route to find her true passion—helping others. She has realized that passion as a registered nurse, a profession she learned through a program at Bladen Community College.
“After I graduated from high school, I chose not to go on to college, but rather, worked at various jobs for a number of years. I didn't consider returning to school until a number of years later. By that time I had married and had a child.”
After moving to Bladen County in 2002 and later learning from her mother-in-law that Bladen Community College would soon have an associate degree nursing program, she decided to return to school.
With loans and scholarships made available through the college's foundation, she enrolled at the college and began taking prerequisite courses. During her time at BCC, she was one of the school's Academic Awards recipients in 2007.
She graduated from the nursing program in 2008 and is now a registered nurse at Bladen County Hospital, an affiliate of the Cape Fear Valley Health System.
