Caroline Wellmon

Caroline Wellmon Caroline Wellmon graduated from Isothermal Community College in 1984 with an Associate degree in Business Administration. During her time at Isothermal, she distinguished herself by carrying a 3.50 grade point average and serving as the reporter for the college's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. She continued her education at Gardner-Webb University, where she graduated magna cum laude.

Wellmon went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service in Forest City where she is now a distribution clerk. In 1991, she earned a Special Achievement Award, which is the only national USPS award ever presented to a Forest City postal employee. This is just one of the many accolades she has gotten over the years, despite the fact that Wellmon was born with a severe hearing impairment.
In 1990, she was featured on the front page of a publication celebrating the college's 25th anniversary.

Her comments in that publication praised Isothermal. She thanked the college for giving her "the gift of believing in myself and an appreciation for quality education. Isothermal gave me a chance to develop my self-confidence. The future looks promising." In 2008, Wellmon was named Isothermal's Alumnus of the Year.
