Steve Green

Steve Green Steve Green was a student at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community before transferring to get a four-year degree in Political Science.

"I knew A-B Tech would give me a solid foundation for any career I chose," he said. He went on to get his master's degree and is currently the Western North Carolina Field Representative for U.S. Sen. Richard Burr.

His days are busy, filled with meetings with elected officials, federal agencies, business leaders, chambers of commerce, healthcare officials, and constituents. "I represent the Senator in the 17 westernmost counties of the state," he said. "I can be in Murphy in the morning and Banner Elk in the afternoon. You get to know the roads very, very well,” Green said.

"I've always had a passion for helping people. Political science was a great way to do that. I get to help people all day long," Green said. "Whether it's a lost Social Security check, helping an apple farmer with crop loss issues or an emergency passport to visit a sick relative. I love the calls where I can put on my creative thinking cap and help people out. I could do this forever. Every day, you can wake up with a smile knowing you can make a difference."
