Reza Setayesh
Reza Setayesh left his family in Iran when he was a teenager and came to America with little more than a “passion for eating and cooking.”
Working under several European chefs in the Los Angeles area, Setayesh couldn't advance without a degree, but he couldn't afford to pay for college. One of the chef's he worked for had graduated from Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College and Reza was so impressed with him and his endorsement of the college, he decided to go himself.
“I arrived at A-B Tech with two suitcases and nothing else. I was by myself…I had nowhere to go and (A-B Tech) took me in. They took me in as a person…not just a student. It was a new beginning for me,” Setayesh said. “Talk about changing lives. A-B Tech changed the course of my life. I want everyone to know how proud I am to have opened my restaurant and been a graduate of A-B Tech's Culinary program.”
