Natalie Rice Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College Baking and Pastry Arts and Culinary Technology graduate Natalie Rice actually wanted her new job, but viewers of "Kitchen Nightmares" and "Hell's Kitchen" may wonder why.

Rice submitted her resume to a hotel in New York City, went for an interview in September, and after a four-hour trial, found herself with the position of savory chef in The Maze, one of the restaurants in Gordon Ramsay's London Hotel. "I sent my resume and they called within a week. We set a day for me to come up here and do a tryout," she said.

The 2008 graduate may not have met Ramsay yet, but the famed temperamental chef's influence is still apparent. "It's pretty intense in the kitchen. There is a lot of energy and everyone is on the same page. The chef over here gets channeled down to what Gordon would want. They know what he wants and they throw in their own skills," Rice said.
