Jodee Sellers
Jodee Sellers took the knowledge she received earning her Culinary Technology degree from Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College and opened a bed and breakfast in Asheville.
In November 1999, the Bent Creek Lodge opened with six guest rooms. A few years later, it expanded, adding four more rooms. The repeat business keeps the lodge full during the summer and fall.
Jodee takes care of the inn, cooking and shopping. "I don't think I would have had the organizational skills to do this without the culinary degree. Maybe four or five rooms, but not to run 10 rooms," she said. "I did a much better job than if I had done it without the education. I wasn't blindsided by things that have come up."
