Weir Valve Controls

Weir Valve Controls When Beaufort County valve manufacturer Weir Valves and Controls needed a location to train its national sales force in 2006, they looked to Beaufort County Community College's Business and Industry Services. In May, 2006, some 50 salesmen from the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East gathered at BCCC to learn more about the products they sell to power plants throughout the world.

“We think it's important that our sales force has the opportunity to physically watch these valves come together and come apart,” said Kathleen C. Perry, vice president of commercial value sales and contracts for Weir. The company's sales force, which gathers every other year for technical training, met in Washington and New Bern that year but because of space limitations at the Washington plant, the company chose to hold its training sessions at BCCC under the direction of Jack Pyburn, business and industry liaison for the college.

“I am very impressed with the facilities here at the college,” said Peter J. McGovern, Weir vice president of marketing.
