Kristian Cox was feeling trapped in a series of unsatisfying retail jobs when she heeded the advice of a former co-worker and decided to change her career path to that of one in the banking industry. To do so, Kristian turned to Coastal Carolina Community College's Today's Teller – Developing Basic Skills course offered by the college's Continuing Education Division.
“I'm so glad I took the course because it created opportunities for me that I wouldn't have had otherwise,” said Kristian. Today, Kristian works as a teller for BB&T bank. The course was developed for those interested in getting their foot in the door of the banking industry and becoming a bank teller. Kristian said she was surprised at the depth of the course and how well it prepared her for her start in banking.
“There are a lot of responsibilities for a teller that many people don't realize, and the training I received at Coastal really prepared me well for my day-to-day duties.” It's not just those going through the Today's Teller course who have accolades for the course, but employers hiring the graduates as well.
“We find a higher quality of candidate when looking at those who have gone through the Coastal course, and Kristian is a perfect example of this,” said Katie Murphy, Banking Officer and Employment Consultant for BB&T.
