Minimum Qualifications

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of all federal and state financial aid programs that will include federal and state regulations as well as the ability to update our community partners of constantly changing financial aid landscape

Ability to travel to other campuses to meet with participants, when needed

Working knowledge of community college financial aid, admissions, and enrollment processes as well as support services

Knowledge of current technologies and virtual communication platforms, presentation creation, and web-based applications

Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office, Ellucian (Colleague), OnBase, and WebAdvisor/Self-Service

Excellent organizational skills

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Valid Driver’s license and approval required by the College’s liability insurance carrier

 

Minimum Requirements: 

 

Associate degree

Two years experience working in a financial aid office

Two years of experience working with college students or special populations

Two years of supervisory and/or leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s Degree

Three years of experience working with community agencies and/or non-profit organizations

Five years of experience working in a financial aid office

Five years of experience working with college students or special populations

Position Description

 

This position is primarily responsible for providing oversight, development, and leadership for the operations of the Financial Aid Outreach strategies and activities for prospective students at high schools, community partners, and federal/state/local agencies that provide student services. The Financial Aid Outreach Coordinator will directly supervise outreach staff and will report to the Dean of Financial Aid. 

 

 

Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

*Oversees the Wake Tech Community College Financial Aid Outreach Program by providing vision, direction, and addressing institutional barriers to student retention and graduation

*Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates direct reports

*Oversees the day-to-day workloads of financial aid outreach employees and ensures adequate staff during vacations and absences

*Oversees program budget, allocates resources appropriately to support student needs, and analyzes financial aid data and student data for reporting

*Collaborates with Wake Tech campus departments and external agencies to plan a system of outreach and recruitment services and activities for prospective students at high schools, community partners, other College departments, and federal/state/local agencies that provide student services

*Represents the Financial Aid Office and ESS at campus functions and events, networks, and builds relationships on campus and in the community, participates in professional development activities

*Oversees the process of data tracking, analysis, and reports preparation of program participants and the overall success of the program

*Schedules and conducts group and/or individual financial aid workshops and presentations suitable for diverse audiences

*Advises and assists prospective, continuing, and reentering students including special populations and high risk students and parents on the availability of various financial aid programs, Satisfactory Academic Progress standards and with the financial aid process; provide information and assistance to prospective students regarding general program information, advising, admission, orientation, testing, financial aid, transfer of transcripts, special populations assistance, etc.

During peak times, assists with processing financial assistance files, advises students and parents in the financial aid process, works late evenings and weekends on occasion, disseminates financial aid information at orientation and various financial aid workshops, and works the lines in the financial aid office when necessary

Identifies and promotes College programs and financial aid opportunities to public and private organizations, such as Independent School Districts and charter schools, PTAs, business and community organizations, and solicits participation by networking with private industry, local agencies and organizations, and other groups within the community

Represents the College by attending college fairs, financial aid nights, job fairs and community events, outreach activities, and other special events (such as campus preview days and tours) through on-site visits, presentations, workshops, etc.

Attends training sessions and workshops to remain current on financial aid regulations and policies of financial aid programs
