Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Special Education, Higher Education, Psychology, or a closely related field
- Experience working with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) or related populations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a community college or higher education setting
- Familiarity with North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) programs and reporting
- Experience in career counseling, disability services, or case management
- Experience with outreach, recruitment, and community partnerships
Position Description
The Access to Achievement Coordinator is a full-time Student Services position within the division of Student Success and Enrollment Management, responsible for coordinating comprehensive support services for students with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). The Coordinator develops and implements a person-centered, intra-college support system that promotes student success, retention, inclusion, and transition to employment or further education.
The Access to Achievement Coordinator receives supervision from the Director, Student Services.

Serve as the primary contact for students who self-identify or disclose an IDD diagnosis.

Conduct intake interviews with students and, when appropriate, parents/guardians to assess goals, interests, and needs.

Develop and maintain person-centered plans and required documentation.

Connect students with campus and community resources, including career counseling, disability services, tutoring, mental health services, and workforce development.

Conduct bi-weekly follow-ups with students throughout enrollment.

Promote student engagement by informing and encouraging participation in campus activities and events.

Coordinate peer mentoring opportunities when appropriate.

In partnership with other departments within Student Success and Enrollment Management, conduct outreach with local school systems, employers, and community agencies.

Track student outcomes and maintain accurate data for reporting purposes.

Prepare and submit biannual reports to the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS).

Provide follow-up and outcome tracking for six months after students exit programs.

Serve as liaison with workforce development staff and employers to support employment opportunities.

Advocate for inclusion and accessibility across campus.

Coordinate implementation team efforts related to IDD initiatives.

Participate in required meetings and professional development activities.

The salary range posted for this position represents the full approved salary range. Initial salary placement typically falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is determined by the College based on the candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, internal equity, and budgetary considerations.
