Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of accounting or banking experience; Ellucian Colleague experiences

Position Description

Job Duties

    • Serve as initial point of contact for the Business Office. 
    • Process cash receipts from all sources (cash, checks, money orders & credit cards).
    • Verify and deposit funds collected by other accounting assistants.
    • Prepare daily cash analysis (DCA) reports, which includes a reconciliation of the deposits and summarization of cash received. 
    • Prepare deposit slips for all college bank accounts daily.
    • Transmit certification of deposit to the NC Community College System Office daily.
    • Distribute petty cash funds when authorized.
    • Distribute reimbursement checks to employees.
    • Maintain receipt books inventory.
    • Assist with student accounts by working with student services and bookstore to answer questions and collect outstanding balances.
    • Process and review check copies, invoices and purchase orders. 
    • Maintain employee travel authorization and travel advance files.
    • Review travel reimbursement requests for accuracy and compliance. 
    • Serve as back-up for other Business Office personnel (accounts payable/debt collection).
    • Assist with the operation of the college’s switchboard and bookstore as needed.
    • Maintain files for DCAs and accounts payable checks.
    • Serve on various college committees as required or assigned.
    • Attend professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date on accounting topics and office processes.
    • Maintain the college vehicles’ calendars/schedules.
    • Perform other related duties as incidental to the work described herein.
