Minimum Qualifications

 

Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related area from a regionally accredited institution with experience in accounting and computer applications.

Preferred Qualifications

 

Payroll experience preferred.

Position Description

 

**Position will be advertised until filled.

 

Responsible for processing and maintaining payroll data for full and part time employees and various control functions.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare monthly payroll and reports.
  • Maintain record of leave data.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual state and federal employer tax returns.
  • Ensure funds are accurately deposited for medical insurance, direct deposit account, SECU, and FICA and federal withholding deposits.
  • Ensure reimbursement to state funds for county and special payroll.
  • Responsible for reconciliation/payment of all third-party benefit invoices, i.e. retirement, medical insurance, employee voluntary deductions, etc.
  • Prepare, reconcile, and transmit W-2 forms to the Social Security Administration and the NC Department of Revenue.
  • Serve as backup on daily outgoing mail processing.
  • Create and update vendors in Colleague.
  • Ensure daily deposits are taken to the bank.
  • Serve as backup for Purchasing.
  • Print checks for Accounts Payable.
  • Perform various internal control functions as required.
  • Assist as necessary during registration.
  • Key journal entries.     
  • Serve as backup for travel, p-card, and Wex gas card.
  • Assist with child care stabilization grant reporting.      
  • Perform record disposal per record retention schedule.
  • Participate in professional development activities provided by NCC. 
  • Participate in College events and activities.
  • Maintain regular on-site attendance during normal hours of college operations consistent with expectations and College policies and procedures.
  • Initiate and answer telephone calls and video conference calls.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that contribute to the efficient and effective operation of NCC.
  • Serve on various committees as assigned.
  • To participate in and support ongoing assessment, planning and evaluation to improve student learning.
