Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in art with two years’ experience in teaching drawing, painting, two-dimensional design, and three-dimensional design. The applicant must be a self-starter, team player, and demonstrate an ability to work well with others. The applicant must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Position Description

The instructor will need to teach studio classes in drawing, painting, and two-dimensional and three-dimensional design during the day. Accurate recordkeeping and inventory in an art studio will also be required. The instructor will maintain partnerships with the community concerning the display of student artwork, work closely with the Foundation of Wayne Community College for events, set up and organize the Fine Arts Festival, and coordinate with other faculty.
 
The instructor will teach 3-12 contact hours, and prepare objectives, assignments, assessments, grading standards, and attendance policies in accordance with college and department policies. They will develop course syllabi to be distributed, keep online courses regularly updated, and ensure the classroom environment (seated, online, or hybrid) is appropriate for diverse student learners. They will ensure availability for all students, in the classroom and through distance learning, by maintaining and responding to electronic communication in an appropriate, timely manner.
 
The instructor must maintain complete and accurate records of student attendance and grades as indicated by institutional policy and submit all final reports accurately and timely. They will support the college’s mission, vision, and core values by adhering to all policies, procedures, and faculty guidelines, and performing other duties as assigned.
