Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and a team player with strong customer service abilities.
  • Technological proficiency across multiple platforms, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • The position may require travel to local sites within the Wayne County area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Three to five (3–5) years of experience working in an educational setting.
  • Experience with guidance or advising responsibilities.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Position Description

The Allied Health and Public Service Advising Specialist provides recruitment, academic advising, assistance with academic testing (including TEAS, accessibility, and related testing requirements), and support services to students pursuing programs in Allied Health and Public Services. This position ensures that the academic programs under AGE–Nursing (Pre-Nursing) and the Associate in Arts or Associate in Science (Pre-Dental) are properly administered, meet all applicable accreditation standards, and that students in these pathways receive comprehensive advising and guidance.

The specialist provides quality advisement and assistance with degree planning and Allied Health application preparation. Additionally, the specialist collaborates with faculty, department chairs, program coordinators, and institutional partners to promote student success through proactive advising, accurate program information, and support for transfer and career readiness.
