Minimum Qualifications
An associate’s degree is required, along with strong communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to student success. Candidates must be able to work independently and collaboratively and should have a flexible schedule with availability for both one-on-one and group tutoring sessions. Intermediate Level Tutor Certification through the National Tutoring Association is required or must be obtained within the first year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
A National Career Readiness Certificate and bilingual abilities are preferred.
Position Description
The Academic Skills Center (ASC) Professional Tutor provides individualized and group academic support across curriculum and foundational subject areas, including high school equivalency and college entrance preparation. This role promotes student learning, persistence, and confidence while contributing to the mission and goals of the Academic Skills Center and Wayne Community College.
