Position Description

DEFINITION:

The Assistant ERP Administrator (Assist ERP Admin) performs a variety of complex duties in the administration, configuration, installation, operation, support, and troubleshooting of ERP and ERP associated applications in a networked environment.  The Assist ERP Admin assists the ERP Administrator (ERP Admin) in supporting administrative computing systems.  

In the absence of the ERP Admin, the Assist ERP Admin maintains critical systems operation and is also responsible for the implementation and maintenance of security and business continuity for the ERP applications and associated systems.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

  • Receives general supervision from the ERP Admin.
  • Exercises no supervision.

 

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENT:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Essential Functions:

  • Performs duties on the administrative systems such as maintaining ERP print spooler health, and ancillary systems such as Self-Service, Maestro and other systems as directed by the ERP Admin.
  • Performs system and application patches/upgrades to administrative computing systems as directed by the ERP Admin.
  • Works with third party vendor support to facilitate updates and troubleshoot administrative computing systems when necessary.
  • Provide support in the management and operation of ERP and related computer systems, debugging/maintaining custom ERP application code, and performance of software maintenance in a networked environment.
  • Implement, install, reconfigure and maintain AWS cloud-based software environments used to support ERP systems.
  • Provide end-user support for the ERP system and related third-party systems.
  • Run database queries on enterprise class systems.
  • Ensure database integrity with system tools and queries.

Other Important Functions:

  • Communicate verbally and/or in writing as appropriate about any system modification, malfunction, changes in status, or interaction with other systems to the ERP Admin.
  • Assist in compiling an Information Services handbook.  Document problems, solutions, programs and procedures for administrative application systems.
  • Provide cross-level support when necessitated by limited staffing.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Evening and/or weekend work may be required as necessary to maintain critical systems.

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

  • Strong skills in ERP-class Operating Systems including RHEL and MS Server.
  • File system administration and security.
  • Local and Wide Area Networking.
  • Basic principles and procedures of enterprise database management.
  • Knowledge of components and parts used in modern computer equipment, office procedures, and methods. 
  • Knowledge of the Ellucian Colleague Administrative System.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise DBMS administration.
  • O/S installation, kernel configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Programming skills such as JavaScript, Python, and/or SQL.

Ability to:

  • Run scripts and system commands.
  • Use basic arithmetic 
  • Troubleshoot system anomalies and effect repairs. 
  • Independently find answers to complex problems.
  • Research new technology documentation and apply new technology.
  • Prepare and maintain work records.
  • Perform general clerical activities as assigned.
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations

    3. Demonstrating intellectual capabilities

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
