Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma required.
Preferred: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, retail management, marketing, or a related field.
Knowledge and Skills:
Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in retail management, hospitality, or food service operations, or auxiliary services.
Strong organization, communication, and customer service skills.
Physical Demands:
The role requires the ability to move throughout the bookstore, stockroom, and associated retail areas on a regular basis.
Frequent standing and walking are required, along with occasional bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing short ladders or step stools.
The position may require occasional lifting, carrying, or moving merchandise, boxes, or supplies weighing up to 50 pound.
Fine motor skills are required to operate a computer, point-of-sale systems, office equipment, and to handle books, merchandise, and paperwork
Licensing Requirement: Valid driver’s license

Position Description
Carteret Community College (Morehead City, NC) is accepting applications for an Assistant Director of Retail Services.
The Assistant Director of Retail Services provides strategic, operational, and financial leadership support for the College’s retail operations, including the campus bookstore and related auxiliary services to ensure high-quality, student-centered services that support academic success and enhance the campus experience.
Salary commensurate with experience.

Duties include:
- Provide support for retail operations, including the campus bookstore, vending and future auxiliary services.
- Work with Director of Retail Services to develop and implement short- and long-term strategies to increase revenue, improve efficiency, and enhance customer experience
- Assist with the textbook adoption processes, ensuring timely communication and collaboration with faculty and academic departments.
- Execute daily bookstore operations including merchandising, inventory control, purchasing, receiving, and point-of-sale systems.
- Maintain an attractive, well-organized retail environment aligned with the college’s brand and student/community needs.
- Assist with e-commerce operations and ensure accuracy and timeliness of online order fulfillment.
- Provide exceptional service to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members.
- Collaborate with campus partners to support academic programs, student life, athletics, and special events with retail solutions and branded merchandise.
- Assist in the development of marketing strategies to promote retail offerings, special promotions, and seasonal campaigns.
- Assist with establishing and maintaining relationships with bookstore vendors, including publishers, wholesalers, apparel vendors, technology providers, and service partners.
- Ensure compliance with all college policies, state and federal regulations, and industry best practices.
- Reconcile daily sales activity and prepare accurate daily deposits in accordance with college financial procedures.
- Train and supervise temporary staff.
- Serve on College committees and task forces as assigned.
- Attend required campus events including graduation, professional development, & employee meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned
The role will require some evening and weekend hours during peak times.
