Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology, Biology, or related field from a regionally accredited institution AND two years of work experience in a science related occupation are required.
Current/valid BioWork Certificate or completed BioTech Training Course is required.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Biotechnology, Biology, or related field from a regionally accredited institution is preferred.
Community College teaching experience is preferred.
Position Description
The BioWork Instructor serves as an instructor in the continuing education and/or curriculum division in the assigned program or discipline. This instructional position carries a teaching load as outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, in settings with people from diverse backgrounds, educational levels, and age groups while exhibiting the ability to maintain the confidentiality of communications.
- Cultivate and sustain collaborative relationships with colleagues, students, and community stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel, relevant computer applications, and Internet platforms.
- Display skills in planning, organizing, and implementing new initiatives, programs, and services; certify quality through tracking and assessment while effectively managing time and resources, meeting deadlines, and paying attention to details.
- Perform complex tasks, prioritize multiple projects, manage interruptions, and demonstrate the ability to work independently without supervision.
- Knowledge and practical ability in student/career and workforce development while understanding the significance of fostering a learner-centered environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the entire student experience, encompassing coaching, mentoring, academic/career advising, student/career services, and academic progression and completion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists the Director in developing course schedules in accordance with the College’s procedure and timeline on scheduling.
- Develops course syllabi, lectures, and classroom activities for assigned courses.
- Reviews and selects appropriate textbooks and instructional materials.
- Administers tests or other evaluation methods to students; grades and gives feedback on exercises, homework assignments, and tests.
- Monitors, records, and submits student attendance, progress, and grades for assigned courses.
- Manages budget for program or discipline including any required travel, materials and supplies, equipment, adjunct instruction.
- Manages course specific equipment and inventory and assumes responsibility for labs and other facilities designated primarily for the assigned program or course.
- Maintains course content in compliance with curriculum standards and updates in response to industry needs.
- Fosters continuous program improvement through annual planning process, including goal setting, report of results, and use of results.
- Monitors course and program enrollment during the registration period and makes recommendations to the Director/Dean regarding addition or removal of sections based on enrollment.
