QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
- Experience in academic advising, student services, or related higher education roles.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships within an educational setting and to plan, organize, and implement student support programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred:
Two years of direct academic advising or success coaching experience.
Position Description
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: SCC’s BOOST Advisor will serve in the Student Success Center and report to the Consortium BOOST Director who supports Sampson, Bladen, and Robeson Community Colleges. The advisor provides comprehensive academic, career, and personal support to a caseload of students enrolled in the NC BOOST program. A primary function is also recruitment into NC BOOST, an initiative designed to improve associate degree completion rates by removing financial, academic, and personal barriers. This position plays a pivotal role in promoting student persistence, retention, and graduation through proactive advising, individualized engagement, and holistic support from enrollment to completion.
