Required:
- Bachelor’s degree counseling, higher education administration, student affairs, education, human resources or related field.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff and students as well as other internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and appreciation of ethnic and cultural diversity and a record of building consensus and reaching out to various and diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to using data to support informed decision-making processes.
- Proven ability to develop successful strategies for enrollment growth, student success and student retention.

Position Description
The Advisor, Career & College Promise works closely with the Director, Secondary Education Partnerships and others to provide academic advising for Career & College Promise students through engagement with high school and college staff to ensure appropriate post-secondary and career pathway registration. Advising will focus on developing educational plans that align with post-secondary and career goals while complying with local, state, and federal requirements.
Example of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Promotes the College mission, vision, and values through Career & College Promise and other High School initiatives
- Provide guidance to students, high school counselors, CTE Directors, and the Early College
- Provide information and orientation sessions for students and families regarding Career and College Promise offerings including home school and charter schools
- Assist with events designed to promote awareness of career pathways
- Collaborate with College personnel to prepare information related to career pathways for distribution to students and parents
- Establish and follow plans to ensure consistent communication with students, faculty, staff, parents, and additional stakeholders
- Responsible for knowledge of local high school and College policies and procedures to provide students with information and guidance to assist them in making informed decisions
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines
- Maintain knowledge of CCP eligibility requirements and pathway options
- Work with CCP students to develop comprehensive education plans that take into account post-secondary education goals, career plans and their high school course schedule
- Advise students on their pathway options and duration of eligibility in the CCP program
- Educate students about limitations and possible consequences of academic decisions including adding, dropping, and withdrawing from courses
- Communicate with high school counselors regarding individual student plans and grades, when necessary
- Assist students in researching requirements for their chosen major at prospective four year colleges and universities
- Refer students to campus resources as appropriate (e.g. Distance Learning Center, Learning Resources Center, and Academic Support Center)
- Performs other duties as assigned that support the College mission and initiatives
