Position Description
General Function
The Career Credit High School Liaison reports directly to the Dean of Continuing Education and Workforce Development. This role involves recruiting, advocating, and facilitating collaboration between Brunswick Community College and Brunswick County Schools. The Liaison offers detailed support and guidance. program information to high school students, parents, counselors, and teachers regarding workforce courses and credentials that are available (Healthcare, Public Safety, Integrated Machine Technology, Trades Education).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
– Participates in career day events, student planning sessions, recruitment activities, and advisory council meetings, leading to increased enrollment and completion among high school students.
– Provides leadership and planning that result in effective recruitment activities and events.
– Delivers well-prepared, compelling presentations that provide career education options to high school students.
– Helps new students navigate the Brunswick Community College campus through collaboration with admissions personnel.
– Assists students with career exploration through collaboration with WIOA Title I career navigators.
– Fosters strong collaboration among high school counselors, principals, teachers, and college administration.
– Communicates regularly with internal and external constituents via phone and email.
– Provides leadership in student recruitment activities and events; delivers well-prepared, compelling presentations that provide career education options to high school students.
– Participates in the decisions for new student enrollment.
– Initiates opportunities to build strong ties between the school, parents, and community.
– Has a working knowledge of program costs, credentials, and state policy regarding fee waivers.
– Participates in appropriate workshops, seminars, and conferences.
– Maintains a positive community presence among the chamber of commerce, Rotary groups, and other service organizations that help youth.
– Assists with the development or modification of approved workforce development pathways (Carpentry, Plumbing, Machine Technology, Electrical Technician, Healthcare, Public Safety).
– Monitors and assesses the progress of students enrolling in the Career Credit Academy at Brunswick Community College.
