Position Description

Job Duties

Apprenticeship and Internship Coordination

  • Assist in development and expansion of work-based learning opportunities for Rockingham Community College students (e.g. job shadowing, internship opportunities, apprenticeships opportunities (adult, incumbent worker, and youth), and WBL course opportunities). 
  • Maintain accountability for all aspects of operations of all work-based learning paperwork, reporting, and tracking, including educational attainment activities, from recruitment to long-term gainful employment.
  • Assist in coordination with Academic Departments, Career Services, and Business/Industry to create and market opportunities and vet applicants.
  • Collaborate with Career Services, WBL course faculty, and community partners to provide on job seeking and employment skills related to apprenticeships and internships such as: resume writing, interviewing, networking, workplace behavior, and general career development 
  • Assist in coordination with division deans, program leadership, faculty and workforce staff to develop, implement, and schedule courses 
  • Develop relationships with community and workforce partners, employers, and surrounding colleges to facilitate resource development and identification, partnerships opportunities, and best practices in work-based learning.
  • Aid in exploration of opportunity to create and implement career development course early in CTE programs of study to serve as both career exploration and pre-requisite to internship and apprenticeship involvement.
  • Provide support to work-based learning students throughout the apprenticeship, internship, or WBL course experience, including recruitment, assisting in academic advising, resource identification, and other necessary services
  • Able to provide overview of apprenticeship and internship programs to students, college faculty and staff, business and industry employers and assist in the development of marketing strategies and material to publicize apprenticeship and internship programs
  • In conjunction with Corporate Education and Training team, serve as liaison between companies who are partnering with RCC through a College Sponsored Apprenticeship and/or Pre-Apprenticeship
  • Facilitate reporting to ApprenticeshipNC for college sponsored apprenticeship programs
  • Work with business and industry partners to complete documents and paperwork necessary for students to earn college credit for the work-based learning taking place.
  • Work with Records Office to ensure completion requirements of apprentices
  • Manage compliance with audit requirements for students, faculty, and employers related to apprenticeships, internships and work-based learning courses. 
  • Complete reports, schedules, presentations, events, meetings, and other projects as assigned to support completion of all work-based learning placements. 
  • Use state apprenticeship registration system to monitor apprentices and completions and/or ApprenticeshipNC grant requests
  • Travel, as needed, to Apprenticeship or Internship sponsor companies, ApprenticeshipNC events, Community events, and business/industry events

Carl T Perkins Grant

  • Assist with coordination of the Carl T. Perkins grant activities for Rockingham Community College, including: direct CTE departments on conducting comprehensive local needs assessment (CLNA)s, prepare Perkins applications, manage spending, attend state meetings, prepare reports, share information from monthly and other meetings with administration, etc.

Other Duties

  • Participate in state, regional, and national industry-related associations and organizations.
  • Serve on appropriate standing committees across the College
  • Coordinate work-based learning experiences 
  • Assist with program assessment and evaluation
  • Other duties as assigned
